Batteries that are better than Lithium-ion batteries - Science Feed

Hello, This is your Science Feed. As we know Lithium is used in most of our electrical equipment, mostly in our smartphones. But, these batteries have their own limitations which are annoying. The biggest reason is that Lithium-ion batteries explode vigorously. Another reason to replace Lithium-ion batteries is their short life and low charge-storing capacity. Today, We will check out those batteries which are better than our Lithium-ion batteries. Here we go; Sodium-Ion Batteries               These batteries are quite similar to Lithium-ion batteries because sodium ions are used instead of lithium ions as the charge carrier. The development of both types of batteries started side-by-side but lithium-ion batteries over took sodium one. There are lots of advantages of using sodium-ion batteries over lithium-ion batteries. First of all, Sodium is the sixth most abundant element on Earth. So, no problem with its availability. In terms of safety, sodium-ion batteries are be

Theranos: A Complete Story - Science Feed

Theranos, the blood testing startup founded by Elizabeth Holmes that pulled off the biggest scam ever happened in the Silicon Valley. From 2003 to 2008 this company grew spectacularly, but as we all know whenever someone tries to have everything in the world someone else is waiting for them to grab them down to nothing just like what happened to Stratton Oakmont and it's very CEO Jordan Belfort . Stratton Oakmont was the biggest Wall Street firm till 1999 when Belfort accused of money laundering, stock market manipulation and fined for 190 million dollars. The same goes for Theranos, so lets begin from the beginning and see what was Theranos hiding in their vault. Elizabeth Holmes dropped out of Stanford at the age of 19 to start Theranos, which was then called Real-Time Cures. She was inspired both by her grandfather's medical career, and her summer 2003 internship at the Genome Institute of Singapore. Briefly after the internship she wrote up a patent application f

Lab-grown meat!!! Veggies and Non-Veggies Should Check This Out - Science Feed

Hii, This is Science Feed. Would you like to eat meat grown in a lab??? Hmm........Is this even possible? So, Lots of startups are developing ways to grow meats in labs among which leading companies are Mosa Meat, Memphis Meats, SuperMeat and Finless Foods. These companies take the muscle cells, do lots of processes to convert tiny cells into petri dish sized tissues. The biggest challenges to lab-grown meat are these are time-consuming, taste and looks, too expensive to grow and resources for its development. How this synthetic meat is cultured in the lab? The simple technique of "cell culturing" is done with cells obtained from the livestock. The cells are fed with the nutrient-rich serum which leads to the growth of cell into muscle tissues in a few days. After the cells have grown, they more look like the strips of muscle fibres. The resulting tissue can be used in food cooking.         To this innovative idea, bigger MNCs have come to raise funds like in 2017

It's too late to give a farewell, but it's never too late to say goodbye - The Story of Opportunity - Science Feed

People say records are meant to be broken, but first, we have to make records then someone else would break it. Isn't it? The Opportunity Rover is that kind of thing we're talkin' bout, the rover that NASA Launched on July 7, 2003, as part of NASA's Mars Exploration Rover program, which is as planned to last 90-sol duration of activity (slightly more than 90 Earth days). But it gives 14 years of service which is a remarkable achievement. Opportunity landed in Meridiani Planum on January 25, 2004, three weeks after its twin Spirit (MER-A) touched down on the other side of the planet.                                             Opportunity didn't survive for over 14 years because its mission was easy. It encountered challenges that required its engineers to be resourceful. For instance, the rover's right-front wheel sometimes drew more current than the other wheels, so engineers often drove the rover backward to extend the right front wheel's life.

Researchers have got a technique to extract direct food source from Carbon Dioxide - Science Feed

Yah, You got it right!!! A new startup company in Finland has a unique idea of extracting edible food from carbon dioxide. The name of the company is Solar Foods Ltd. and this company is quite interesting because of its idea.                               This edible food looks, feels and also tastes like wheat flour which is highly rich in protein, carbohydrates, and fats. This company claims that it uses only air, electricity, water, and special microbes (an undisclosed type of soil-derived bacteria) to produce this food. Solein is the name given to this single-cell protein by Solar Foods Ltd. The company plans to sell its products by 2021. During the production of Solein, 100 times less water is needed than soy-based plants and 20,000 times less land is required than traditional farming. Lets comparison it with beef and soy, For 1kg of beef, 15,000 litres of water is required. For 1kg of soy. 2,500 litres of water is required. But, For 1kg of Solein, 10 litres of water

Ozone Layer Started Recovering during the Coronavirus Pandemic - Science Feed

During the Coronavirus pandemic, we have heard nearly no good news except the healing of our ozone layer.                 Recently, there is a drastic recovery in the hole of the Ozone layer after the agreement of Montreal Protocol(1980). This is one of the positive news during the Coronavirus pandemic. The reason behind this recovery is not clear yet. Some scientists are saying that this is due to less production of ODS (Ozone Depleting Substances) and carbon dioxide. But, some scientists say this is a temporary fix in the ozone hole which may be due to the usual mild temperature in the atmosphere of the ozone layer. 'The study adds to growing evidence showing profound effectiveness of the Montreal Protocol. NOt only has the treaty spurred healing of the ozone layer, but it's also driving recent changes in Southern Hemisphere air circulation patterns. The challenges in this study were proving our hypothesis that ozone recovery is, in fact, driving these atmospheric c

Bored at Home ??? Best projects you can try out when bored - Science Feed

Bored at Home ??? Try out these cool projects and learn something awesome in your boredom. These projects may be very useful in your school and college science events. 1. e-Skateboard Skateboards are always fun to use. These are small-time machine type gadgets. But how can we make it cooler than normal skateboards?   Power up your skateboard with an electric motor and extend your comfort. For this, attach your motor with rollers of the skateboard by a belt-pulley arrangement. Do a little bit of circuit designing so that when you lean forward board moves ahead and vice versa for backward movement. Connect skateboard with a battery and your e-Skateboard is ready. Watch the above video to get a better idea for making it. 2. Cell-phone Oper ated Vehicle              Controlling any mobile vehicle with a radio frequency-based receiver is never been an easy task. Main problems that we face is its limited operational and frequency range with specific controls, What about c

Internet of Future - Quantum Internet

Have you ever wondered about how the Internet will look like in our future, how much powerful it will be, what are the various tasks it can do, etc. The answer to these questions is "Quantum Internet - Internet of Future". There are lots of reasons behind saying it is the Internet of Future. But before knowing the reasons, we should first understand - "What is Quantum Internet?". So, According to some experts,         The quantum internet is a network for transmitting qubits between distant locations. Hmm..., What are Qubits???                       Let me explain, When we use our classical computers, our information (more specifically our data) is processed or transferred in the units of 1 or 0, called "Bits". But in the case of quantum computers, it uses 1 or 0 or both at the same time (superposition state), named "Qubits"(sometimes quantum bit or qbit). Qubits are far more different from traditional units of information.

Pandemics Before Coronavirus That Shook The Whole World - Science Feed

Before the coronavirus outbreak, various other contagious pandemics had happened in history and shook the whole world and killed millions of people from all around the globe. So let us take a brief look over these life-taking diseases, and dive into those eras so we can be prepared what's more to come in this very special year 2020. (1) **Sixth Cholera (1911-1912)**  First on our list is sixth cholera. By the end of 1910 the sixth cholera pandemic was a major outbreak of cholera beginning in Haridwar Kumbh Mela in India, but this sixth time it's more powerful and deadly and took the lives of more than 8,00,000 people in the world. And spread to the Middle East, North Africa, Eastern Europe, and Russia. FUN FACT:   At that time people drunk a lot of alcohol to prevent this disease. They thought that this is the only medicine, but they don't know that in the manufacturing of alcohol-water is believed that kills all the germs and viruses in it. (2) **Hong Kong Fl

Important Things about COVID-19 - Science Feed

Hi, This is Science Feed.  Today, We will be talking about COVID-19. Introduction COVID-19 is a human to human transmitting infectious disease caused by the SARS-COV-2 virus (a type of coronavirus) which originated from a local seafood market (known as Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market) in the city Wuhan of Hubei province of China.  This disease spread from Wuhan to other major cities of China via locals and then to other countries via international tourists.                                                                                                 Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market, Wuhan Currently, It has infected over 199 countries and territories around the world and 2 international conveyances: the Diamond Princess cruise ship harbored in Yokohama, Japan, and Holland America's MS Zaandam cruise ship. the day is reset after midnight GMT+0.
